On September 26 is celebrated the European Day of Languages, this holiday was proclaimed on December 6, 2001 by the Council of Europe with the assistance of the European Union. It is enough new, 10 years only. The origin of the European Day of Languages is connected with the fact that UNESCO proclaimed XXI millennium as the age of polyglots. The aims of this day are: raising of the plurilingualism and intercultural understanding, promotion of rich linguistic and cultural diversity of European citizens, encourage language earning in school and during the lifetime. Knowledge of more than one language is the necessity nowadays.
